Writing for Pleasure 2

Group Leader and Tutor: Lisa Mades

Our Writing for Pleasure II group meets every other Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. for two hours. At the present time, we take turns meeting at one of our members’ homes in Saffron Walden.

Our sessions tend to focus on creative prose writing, and the group presently is composed of experienced amateur writers who all appreciate an environment that encourages honest constructive feedback.

Lisa Mades serves as our coordinator and on most sessions provides a different topic or story prompt for the members to use as a “take-home” assignment. Our work is then read out loud at the following session. In addition, we are open to discussions of longer works in process (e.g. a novel), and with such works, we often have plot, character and scene brainstorming sessions to aid the author in getting past temporary blocks in their creative process.

Because of our choice of venue, the group is intentionally small in size. This, however, has the added benefit of providing us with the opportunity to have the time to give pointed and meaningful feedback to each individual’s work. Our mission is to provide an ear, support, and cooperative guidance to improve our creative writing skills.

We are at capacity at this time, however if you would like to be added to our wait list, please feel free to contact me.
