We meet at 10.30am on the third Thursday of every month in the Café Cornell

It’s a bit over a year since we started the 4th u3a book group, and we have had a great time reading, meeting up, choosing books, meeting up, discussing books, meeting up - since we first got together in May 2023. We’ve had books of all sorts to read (or listen to if preferred), taking us wonderfully around the world, and into places we wouldn’t otherwise have gone, thanks to the choices of our members. We celebrated Christmas together at Café Cornell (see photo), who have cheerfully and deliciously hosted us from the beginning, and we celebrated a year of reading together in May at Elder Street Café in Debden. It’s great fun to be part of a group with such lovely people. The books are a part of the fun (see some samples above), but the meeting up may well be the best bit (along with Café Cornell’s stonking bacon sandwiches). If you’d like to join a book group, and sadly there isn’t a space on one, then as Mary would say, why not start one? It’s not hard and it’s great fun. Happy reading/listening/kindling!
