Due to the ongoing situation in the middle east and the disruption in supply and increasing costs of oil and fuels, I have decided it would not be sensible to run out and about events until further notice.

The latest trip out was to the Bury St Edmunds Golf Club, where we were made most welcome. We had a bite to eat and a good chat in the member’s lounge.

The route was mostly on B roads and country lanes, via Dalham, Gazley and Lackford.  We passed Porter’s Lodge, the Anglo Saxon Village and skirted the edge of Thetford Forest.  The scenery was interesting as most of the harvest had been completed and the ground was being prepared for the next crop.

The Out and About group meet monthly during the Summer months for a leisurely drive to various destinations up to 50 miles.

We have visited a pub on the river Stour, a garden centre where some of us enjoyed a ride on the miniature railway, Jordon’s Mill plus many others. At our destination we meet for a chat and refreshments.

For each trip a route plan is supplied which covers country roads and wherever possible we avoid towns and major trunk roads.

The object of the ride is to enjoy the beautiful countryside we have in this part of the country. It is recommended that each car has a route reader as well as a driver and car sharing is encouraged.

Our first trip this year is planned for Tuesday 13th May starting at Swan Meadow car park at 10.30am. If you wish to join the group or have any questions, please contact us.
