Saffron Walden

Ramblers

Group Leader: Colin Potterill

We meet every other Thursday morning - 5th March 2026 and every other Thursday after that.

We meet in the first car park of the Lord Butler Leisure Centre in Saffron Walden from about 9.45am to depart promptly at 10.00am.  The number of members on a walk can vary between 6 and 30. We then share lifts and drive to our chosen location. The walks are usually between 3 and 5 miles long and we are normally back at the Leisure Centre between 12.00 and 1.00pm. The group meets each fortnight on Thursday mornings. Wet weather gear and walking boots are recommended.  The walks can involve climbing over stiles. Colin usually emails everyone at the start of the week with details of the forthcoming walk.

Website for Walkers

Walking in England  www.walkinginengland.co.uk/essex is a website packed with useful information for walkers. With hundreds of walks to download and print, free, it also has books of walks, contact details for all the walking groups in the county and much more.

There is so much walking information on the web but it can be difficult to find. Walking in Essex (part of the Walking in England suite of websites – one for each county in England) has brought it together in one place so whether you are walking from home, or away on holiday, you will be able to find a walk suitable for you’.

With walks from half a mile to twelve miles plus long, and a note of suitability for pushchairs and wheelchairs, everyone can find a walk to enjoy. John Harris, john@walkdinginengland.co.
